1. Mold
Mold is a common thing that inspectors find frequently everywhere, and Indiana is no exception.
This is a dangerous defect to find in your house, because mold can cause serious health problems if it is allowed to linger in your home.
Mold spores can get into the air and then get into lungs and respiratory systems, causing sickness and asthma flare ups. Mold can even cause life threatening and sometimes fatal injuries.
2. Foundation Issues
Foundation issues are common because of the moisture in Indiana, but also because of the natural settling of a house into the Earth over time.
Houses that are older in age are more commonly found to have foundation issues because they have had more time to settle into the ground and have shifted or cracked because they are no longer level.

Clay and tile roofs are more likely to last longer than shingle or wooden roofs, because the material of them is much more durable and is made to last a long time.
4. Standing Water
Homes that have poor grading in Indiana, or do not have the correct drainage systems installed typically have areas with standing water surrounding or near to the home.
This can cause many different problems, such as the foundation shifting from the soil becoming too soft, or mold growing around the base of the home.
If mold grows around the foundation, there is a high possibility that it can get into the inside of the home easier. Standing water also is a great place for bacteria to grow and debris to sit in and rot, so it is best to make sure that homes do not have this problem!
